Floyd Trillis III has over a decade of experience in intellectual property counseling, patent and trademark preparation and prosecution, licensing, opinions, and dispute resolution.

Floyd’s patent work has focused on the food, chemical, and pharmaceutical fields. However, he has handled patent matters in an array of technologies. Floyd also has extensive experience representing trademark owners in opposition and cancellation proceedings before the U.S. Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, as well as counseling on trademark clearance, prosecution, and enforcement.

Floyd earned his B.S. from The Ohio State University, graduating with honors from the College of Biological Sciences. Prior to entering law school, Floyd served as a Clinical Research Coordinator at the Louis Stokes VA Medical Center in Cleveland Ohio, where he conducted clinical studies on nosocomial pathogens, in particular, Clostridium difficile infections.

During law school, Floyd served as a Patent Extern at the generic injectables manufacturer Ben Venue Laboratories, Inc., formerly part of the Boehringer Ingelheim Group of Companies. Floyd’s commitment for innovation is also demonstrated by his tenure at the Technology Transfer Office (TTO) of Cleveland State University.
